It seems that the hat is well and truly back. All the cool kids are sporting them, even in restaurants (ugh). I wonder what their grannies would think about the noticeable lack of hat manners about? For those of you who are unfamiliar with the rules, I offer you the following from The Penguin Book of Etiquette:
‘Hats are to be removed when entering someone’s house, office, church, a lift on a public building or when a funeral procession passes by. One must also touch the brim as a greeting when passing somebody on the street.’
I hope you new generation of hat wearers respect the rules. Let’s not give the hat a bad name, it deserves better.
