We are fortunate in this city to have many working pubs from times gone by. Notably the Retreat Hotel in Abbotsford, which featured in one of my favourite wartime soaps, The Sullivans. On a hot night you might slip on this dress, tie a scarf over the rollers and make like it’s 1943. After all if it was good enough for our Kylie (Carla in the aforementioned Grundy offering) then it is good enough for all of us.
