What happened is this:
Kate, who is the apex between Jules and Jim (Henri-Pierre Roché, 1953), was wearing a white full skirt, while painting a sideboard at the family’s summer beachside cottage. She had chosen, of course, a blue to match the sea, a blue to match the sky, and red for the ribbon that tied her heart to Jim’s … When finished, because it occurred to her do it, she simply spun herself along against the length of the sideboard… before running off in her freshly painted skirt, to dance in the sand and plunge into her next adventure.
